(Czech Republic) The Duke of Edinburgh´s Award is a voluntary self-improvement programme supporting personality development and leisure-time activities for young people between the ages of 14 and 25. It aims to equip them with the life skills to make a difference to themselves, their comunities and the world.
There are four parts to the Programme; the young person develops his/her practical skills, learns or improves a recreational sport, undertakes a joint expedition and assists others less fortunate.
There is about 30 Operators in the Czech Republic and about 400 young people involved.
Since 2009 the organisation is running a national project focusing on Young offenders “Learning for life”, including voluntary service and social skills development.
